The Throne Room
Somewhere above the last mountain
The king did not climb up here.
He woke up here — and saw no reason to leave.

Official portrait of the king, resting.
Resting is most of the job.
01 — The Place
There is a cloud that never quite becomes rain. It hangs past the last mountain, holds the evening light a little longer than physics allows, and carries exactly one resident.
He is a dog. He is also, technically, royalty. Nobody up here remembers voting — but the crown fits, the cloud holds, and the view has never once been argued with.
02 — The Resident
Every detail of him has been studied by exactly no scientists. Still, some findings feel solid. Select a feature to inspect the evidence.
Field notes conclude: “The crown is not an accessory. Up here, it is load-bearing.”
He does not watch the sunset.
The sunset checks on him.
Every evening, right on time, the whole sky turns gold just to be sure he is still up there. He is. He always is.
03 — How Things Work Up Here
Four rules govern the cloud. They were never written down, which is why this page exists.
The ground is hard enough for everyone. Up here, landings are forgiven and naps are architecture.
There is nothing below that needs a king. The horizon, however, appreciates the attention.
In wind, in sleep, in dramatic lighting. Especially in dramatic lighting.
Not a time — a place. He lives there. Visitors are asked to arrive glowing or not at all.
04 — Audience With the King
The throne is a cloud, the door is the whole sky, and the king receives guests at golden hour — which, as established, is always. He will not stand up. Do not take it personally. He has never stood up for anyone, and that consistency is exactly why he is king.
He reads everything. He replies with his face.
